
8.10. Create PT Prep & Samples¶
This lesson provides students with an opportunity to score sample Create Performance Tasks. Students will review and try scoring selected samples from the College Board's AP Central site. In doing so, students learn more about the requirements to satifsy the College Board's Create Performance Task scoring guidelines.

8.10.1. Learning Activities¶
Estimated Length: 45 minutes
Hook/Motivation (5 minutes):
- Explain that in preparation for the Create Performance Task, students will need to understand the scoring guidelines and how they will be applied to student work. As practice, students will score several sample Create Performance Task using the scoring guidelines.
Experiences and Explorations (30 minutes):
- Activity - Give students time, as a class or in pairs, to try scoring at least two of the selected samples. Students can use the scoring spreadsheet to document their scores and reasonings.
Rethink, Reflect and/or Revise (10 minutes):
- Review the correct scores with the class, by first sharing the actual scores for the samples they graded. Then ask them to compare their scores with the actual scores. Have students make any corrections and/or revisions and document any changes in their reasoning after sharing with the class.
